I'm still alive

I just graduated from school (with honors!) so for those of you in film/photography I'm for hire and I'm awesome =D

Thinking about going back to calgary for a visit but I won't be able to till june or so. *Shakes fist at work schedule*. Some people I'd like to see more than others but if I talked to you/hung out with you last time you can rest assured you're still on my good side :)

Whats there to do for fun in cowtown nowadays anyways?

Hair

I got my deathhawk done :) It's HUGE. I kept most of the length so it's about 1 1/2 feet when it's up.
I was a huge hit at The Cambie. Random people wanted to get their picture taken with me. It was pretty awesome. It started to come down after about4 or 5 hours though but whatever, it was my first time putting my hair up. I can only get better after this.
I'll post pics as soon as I get batteries for my camera

COMEDIC GOLD

My friend Abbie needs me as a hair model for friends and family week at her school. We got to talking and we started mulling around the idea of a deathhawk. Of course shaving my head in weird ways is a little intimidating so I figured I'd photoshop my face into a couple of deathhawk pictures. The result is COMEDIC GOLD.

And also I think that's a "yes" to the haircut.

Not so dytopian future

For those of you who were wondered what happened to me after I became rather homeless and never reappeared in Calgary...

I got an apartment in Surrey not too far from my old place. New floors, new paint, new appliances... for about $200 less than the other places I was looking at so altogether not too shabby. I also took my old cat with me: Eena (the one with no tail). She's a lot healthier too and a lot happier now that she has someone to actually take care of her.

I'm in school now. John Casablanca's Institute for Makeup Artistry. Sounds rather lame but what I'm really looking to get into is the Special Effects end of things. It starts out with your basic day/evening makeup, bridal hair and makeup, then moves on to more exciting projects: stage makeup, aging with latex, injury simulation and full on prosthetics. They have a masters in Prosthetics course as well that deals with animatronics and creature suits. It's pretty exciting stuff. I start July 23.

I am now the Manager of all of Body Mods. The only ones above me are the owners and the Office Manager who is on the same level as me, but she just deals with paperwork, payroll etc. Oh and we got a wicked health care plan too.

I'm going out a lot more now. Local shows, various club nights and the like. I met a boy and now he won't leave me alone. Even though I already told him I'd rather eat broken glass than date him. It's very irritating. I have no urge to date while I'm in school. I'll be a full time student as well as working 40 hours a week and I just don't want to deal with that kind of bullshit.

Beyond that I'm just reading a lot. I went on a giant Neil Gaiman binge and I now own just about everything he's ever written/ have read the things I don't own. I just finished Margaret Atwood's Oryx and Crake and reread William Gibson's Neuromancer. I need something new. Dytopian futures are always nice. As are Lovecraftian horror. Any recommendations?

If anyone in the lower mainland is looking to move/ wanting to move to the greater vancouver area we've got a room for rent in our house.

It's a pretty big house in Surrey (right by Scott Road Station) with a nice big kitchen and living room, a weight room and a jam shack for those of you who are musically inclined and a HUGE backyard. There's 3 other people living here including myself, my boyfriend and the guitarist in my boyfriend's band. We also have 3 snuggle-slut kitties and a dog (although he might be leaving with our other roomie when he moves out).

Snow Day!

Ahaha
It snowed probably just over a foot and everyone is panicking. Transit is running at half service, roads are closed, schools are closed, my meeting on sunday was cancelled for christsakes .
Of course Dez and I are both from the prairies and this is nothing so I romped around in my socks and kicked snow at him while he shovelled the driveway. =P Till he shovelled snow on me anyways. I'm kinda cold now.

Tattoo!

I lost my tattoo virginity last night.
On the kitchen table. Boo yah. My roomie is in fact a proper certified tattoo artist, and she's actually quite good. She brought home some freshly autoclaved needles, guns, gloves, those stencils thingies, green soap and a whole bunch of colors. It's a rather large piece on my right upper thigh consisting of 3 lillies and a hibiscus.
The hibiscus was my idea (I always remember them from when I was little and living in Saudi Arabia so I have a certain fondness for them blaa blaa blaa) and Chrissy just came home with some stencils of lillies she'd done up on a mission to tattoo them on somebody ("If nobody wants 'em I'm doing 'em on myself!").
So 3 hours later my hibiscus is mostly colored and the dark part on the lillies is done. Still gotta do the leaves and the lighter part of the lillies as well as highlights on the hibiscus. We just couldn't keep going because my skin was getting tired and bloody and didn't want to accept the ink as readily. It's reeeeeally pretty. I'm quite happy with it. Still another 2 or 3 hours to go but hey what do I care it's free :P.

Jury Duty

My roomie just got a letter summoning him for jury duty. He's one of 300 people of which they'll select 12. For the Willie Picton trial.

Is it wrong to wish I could do it instead of him?

WTF

I'm hurt and bewildered.

My mom just basically told me if Desmond can't come with me to Calgary for christmas, not to bother coming at all.

Why does my mom like my boyfriend better than she like me?! >=0

<3 Synth

I'm having a total nostalgic moment with sappy synthpop. I'd have to say Wolfsheim's "Find you're here" is still my favorite synthpop song, followed closely by anything by Depeche Mode or Mesh.
I still have yet to attend Sanctuary... I keep meaning to getting around to it but then I keep thinking that it'll have all this scene-drama all over again. I betcha we'd all have twins too...
Like I'd have a twin named Anisha only she'll have a deathhawk or something, and Jess would have a twin named Jen who would chain smoke cloves, and Sonja would have this total cyber-goth twin named Sasha. Totally.

Does anyone have MS Works?
I need my high school marks but they're in a .wps file and I can't convert them :(
Help a sister out?

And Jess- we found the necklace, it's here if your aunt can pick it up :)

Kittens!

My backyard is swarming with kittens!
3 random kittens have found their way into my backyard, and our 3 current cats are frolicking with them. This is like the greatest day of my life xD

metalheads unite

I just watched Metal: A Headbangers Journey
It was wicked! Especially the breakdown of the sub genres and the little bit on black metal. I have a soft spot for black metal. I can't help it- it's so pretty and evil.
Who else saw it? What did you think?

I'm typing with wet nail polish. Very difficult. Yes.

:(

Another update: Buddy ran away while I was at work :(

Thu, Jun. 29th, 2006, 11:34 am
I'm a sucker for cheesy accoustic

Hmmm figured maybe I should make an update.
We got a dog. Not the kind we were looking for- Rather, a rather scruffy looking terrier that followed me home one day. His leash was a telephone wire, so we think he may have belonged to a homeless person. But he has a tattoo and he's quite well trained. I was going to call the SPCA but everyone's grown quite fond of him. We cleaned him up and Chrissi gave him a mohawk. His name is Buddy.

And as much as I enjoy my job (I read pretty much an entire novel and still destroyed our sales goal), I need more hours. I'm only getting 25-30 hours a week. I think I need a second job. This seems to be the problem everyone runs into when they move out here. But my rent is dirt cheap and I'm not too concerned just yet- just frustrated.

Jess is still down here looking for a place. Lily and her mom will be coming up as soon as she finds one. It's actually kinda hard finding places here that aren't in a bad area. We're in a good pocket of a bad area. The hill seems to deter most people (3 steep blocks uphill-bleh). It's not nearly as expensive as everyone led me to believe tho- it's pretty miuch exactly the same as Calgary.
Anyhoo I need to go take a shower now- it's freakin hot out.

AHAHA

I TOTALLY KIDNAPPED JESS
AHAHHHAAA
We're gonna tear some shit up. Whilst drinking strawberry daquiris. Cuz we're hardcore like that. w00t.

Rasputina

So I just realized something that really sucks last night.
We were supposed to go see Les Claypool (bassist from Primus, did the southpark themesong) on the 6th. Free tickets and everything. But plans were made about a month ago and Dez forgot to ask for his tickets and by the time I remembered it had already passed. Oh well, I just kinda wanted to see him anyways. On with my life.
Until last night when I'm looking through that weeks copy of the Georgia Straight. Who opened for them? Rasputina! I've wanted to see them so insanely bad for yeeeeeeears. I think they would be wonderful to see live. But I missed it and I didn't even know it :'(

Oh yeah I have a livejounal thingie....

Stolen from Thiyavat ....

The idea is that you answer all the questions by typing your answer into Google Image search and post the answer in the form of an image that comes up. For poetic license we'll say you can choose from the first 10 results but the idea is, of course, to work with the randomness of the responses.

1. What makes you happy?

2. What are you most ashamed of in yourself?

3. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

4. What is the first thing you remember?

5. What has gotten you through your darkest hour?

6. What did your parents' house smell like?

7. One word that you use far too often:

8. One word that you associate with your best kept secret:

9. One word describing a recurrent theme in your dreams:

10. What disgusts you in others?

11. One word that describes your first lover:

Black metaaaaal

I'm so freaking hungover.
Fetal Butchery (aka my roomates) played a black metal festival last night. It was all ages so we had to drink in Dez's truck in the parking lot. I drank red wine. Out of the bottle. Classy.
Underage kids are vicious! That's the closest I've ever come to having my nipple rings ripped out in a pit and I'd like to consider myself a seasoned veteran.
I'm so old :(
Anyhoo I have pictures. I put makeup on dez and it was freakin hawt. Oh and we attacked him and shaved his head in a drunken stupor the night before. I'll upload them sooner or later.
